Merry x-mas

Thank you everyone who has looked at our blog this year and room 17 hopes you have a really good x-mas :)

That's MY Story

I am in the shade. I look out at the glazing water and the blazing orange and white boat dozing in the bright sun. Curiously, a large rock meets my eye out at sea. Waves gently hit the boat.

Kaitiaki

In term 2 room 17 started a thing called a kaitiaki. It's about us being a guardian and what our treasure is. Which means what we hold dear to us.

Wild Things

We have made wild things in our art. We used pencil to draw them on paper and then we went over the outline with brown crayon. After that we cut them out and dyed them. It took us 3 days to make them. They were hard to make but it was fun.

Book Week

On the 2nd of August our grandparents and mums and dads came in to school so we could read to them because it is Book Week. Also we dressed up like book characters and had a parade.

Cross Country

On Tuesday we had a cross country day. It was fun. Jacob came 2nd. We had trained hard. We are proud of how good we have done. People cheered us on and clapped when we went through the finish line.

BACK to school

We are settling in to school after the earthquake. It was a 6.3. It is good to be at school to catch up with our friends. It's good to be learning again. There are some obstacles that you are not allowed on.

Earthquake

On the 4 of September there was a 7.1 earthquake .I was awake reading when it happened. Then I heard my mum and dad yelling, get out of bed. As soon as we got downstairs it stopped.

That's My Story

"Wow! Today is a wonderful sunset isn't it mum?"
"It sure is ."
"Mum can we go on the pier now?"
"Go for it."
"Ok come on mum."
"I'm coming. I'm coming."
Quick the sunset's almost finished . Hurry!"
" Come on we're almost there ."
"NO NO! Oh no we missed it."
" Come on, we'll come back tomorrow ."
"We'd better."
Tomorrow arrived.
"Yes we got here! That's a great sunset.

Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day and mufti day at Windsor school . At the front of the school there are people selling daffodils and tattoos plus they're doing face painting. This is to raise money for the Cancer Foundation.

Learning Conference

Next week we are having a learning conference .We have to introduce our mum and dad to our teacher and tell our mum and dad about our learning.

Reading Congress

In Room 17 we have been writing letters to other teachers in the world who are going to the World Congress on Reading. It's a reading congress thing where teachers learn about teaching reading. It's going to be held in Auckland.

Our PAI

At Windsor school we are starting a new PAI unit .It's learning about other cultures. Right now we're learning about Greece. It's a pretty cool country I think .I think their food is really nice. You know some of their houses are made out of mud brick and many of their houses are blue and white because there flag is blue and white. Their flag is blue and white because they live near the sea.
